Introduction
After running PFSense for a while as the core of my network, I decided to simplify my setup and move to something more integrated. I’ve since replaced PFSense with a UniFi Dream Machine, which now handles my firewall, routing, and overall network management.
Story
One of the best parts about using the UniFi Dream Machine is the interface. It’s clean, modern, and makes it easy to see what’s going on in my network at a glance. I can monitor real-time traffic, see which devices are connected, check bandwidth usage, and even spot unusual activity. It gives me way more visibility than I had before, and I don’t need to dig through logs or command lines to get important info.
Here is a look at it physically, UDM at the bottom, Switch and PiHole on right and NAS on left. I don’t plan on buying a rack for this but if I keep growing my homelab I will.
